Blasphemy Ball: Organizer Bios

Stacy Bias - Founding Committee Member

The Blasphemy Ball idea was borne of Stacy's need for one night of focused, therapeutic rebellion against her pious preacher father who launched an obsessive internet vendetta against her early in 2007 in attempts to 'save her soul' from 'AIDS and Black Filth' [sic]. The Blasphemy Ball is a big EFF YOU, both specifically and globally to organized religion, which Stacy personally feels is the worst thing that ever happened to humankind. Stacy is the founder of FatGirl Speaks, TechnoDyke.Com, Cupcake, DykeTees.Com, Pussy Pucker Pots and Literati lip balms.

Nik Wilhelm - Stage Manager

Nik has been wreaking havoc offstage and on for the past ten years; from renaissance festivals to professional playhouses, no stone has been left unturned. When not plotting how to make a living as an evil ninja pirate knight, Nik can often be found traipsing about the city taking photos of anything that moves and many things that do not. Some of Nik's recent work can be found here.

Downbeat Nick - Committee Wrangler

Downbeat Nick -- recent UK transplant, former organizer of "Downbeat Nick", an acoustic showcase of random happenstance in the basement in a North London Turkish cafe. Woman of few words but many deeds

Kathleen Bryson - Committee Artisan

Kathleen Bryson was born in the Arctic Circle (both the geographic location and the restaurant chain.) She is an actor, painter, filmmaker, and author. Her feature film directorial debut – the dark thriller/satire The Viva Voce Virus – will be released in 2007. She likes punk/indie music, outsider art, and trees. Her novel Mush was published in 2001. Girl on a Stick, her second novel, will be published by She Devil Press in April. Both blasphemous and reverent, Girl on a Stick starts with the main character seeing visions of the Virgin Mary from her #38 bus.

Christine - Committee Carpenter

Christine, our vegan brownie baker and confessional carpenter, normally affiliates herself with groups like Portland International Women's Day, the Direct Action Reproductive Rights Coalition, and the Outside In acupuncture clinic. She decided to spice things up a bit, and is very excited about the prospect of living out her naughty nun fantasy."
